Brooks Koepka is not participating in the 2026 Truist Championship due to restrictions from his Returning Member Program with the PGA Tour. Instead, he is playing in the Myrtle Beach Classic to improve his World Golf Ranking.
If you're looking at the leaderboard of the 2026 Truist Championship, you won't see Brooks Koepka anywhere on the list.
But take a look at the Myrtle Beach Classic and there is the five-time major champ, playing with names like Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Brandt Snedeker. Why is that?
There's a simple reason for it: As part of Koepka's "Returning Member Program" that took him from LIV Golf back to the PGA Tour, he's not allowed to be a sponsor invite to the PGA Tour's Signature Events. That includes the Truist.
He was hoping to get into the RBC Heritage and the Cadillac Championship the last two weeks as an alternate, but that didn't happen. What he's got to do is continue to play and accrue points to up his World Golf Ranking (he's 127th as of publishing this).

If he keeps playing well -- and we'll see him at the PGA Championship next week -- he could get into Signature Events.
Brooks Koepka has spent the last 2 Signature Events waiting at the course as the first alternate for a potential spot in the field, but it didn’t come. He explained his motivation to do that ahead of the Myrtle Beach Classic:

“I knew this year was going to be challenging to even get in them. I kind of thought by maybe around U.S. Open, but to know that I'm kind of knocking on the door already is a good thing. Just the answer to everything is: Play better, and you're in.”
This article originally appeared on For The Win: Why Brooks Koepka is playing Myrtle Beach, not Truist Championship
Brooks Koepka is not playing in the Truist Championship because his Returning Member Program prohibits him from being a sponsor invite to PGA Tour Signature Events.
The Returning Member Program allows Brooks Koepka to transition from LIV Golf back to the PGA Tour but comes with restrictions on participating in certain events.
Brooks Koepka is playing in events like the Myrtle Beach Classic to accrue points and improve his World Golf Ranking, which is currently 127th.
