Why Carlos Alcaraz may not finish his career with as many Grand Slams as Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are on pace to break several records in tennis, with Novak Djokovic’s Grand Slam record of 24 possibly within reach.

The two have controlled the ATP Tour for the past couple of seasons, having shared all four majors between them across 2024 and 2025.

Alcaraz won his seventh major title at this year’s Australian Open, also becoming the youngest player to complete a Career Grand Slam at just 22 years old.

Sinner, meanwhile, has collected four Grand Slam titles by the age of 24 and needs only a Roland Garros title to complete his own Career Grand Slam.

Though Sinner trails Alcaraz by three majors and is older, former world number 18 Benoit Paire believes he’ll end up with more Slams when it’s all said and done.

Benoit Paire shares his thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

Paire told Tennis 365, “I would say Sinner will win the most majors.

“I think he is very solid on hard courts and a little more focused to win the game. He wants to win everything, so that’s the difference between him and Alcaraz.

“Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know, but that’s what I think. In the future, it will be a big battle between those two.

“I am also hoping that there will be more players coming through like Joao Fonseca, but for the moment, I think it is between those two.”

Fonseca is still young at just 19 years old, but has already shown some promise by reaching the Miami Open quarter-finals this year before losing to Hubert Hurkacz.

Sinner even praised Fonseca following their match in Miami. Fonseca later played Alcaraz in Indian Wells and managed to take a set off of him. He lost in three sets but impressed many with his performance nonetheless.
