The San Francisco 49ers have been incredibly public about their desire with Brandon Aiyuk this offseason. He's not going to be on the team next year, but the 49ers don't want to cut him. They want to find a trade.
A team like the Washington Commanders, whose quarterback is Jayden Daniels, played with Aiyuk in college, would make a ton of sense as a landing spot. But, they've not budged, and Aiyuk is still on the 49ers roster.
When will the 49ers finally have a resolution with Aiyuk? Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox highlights June 1st as a date to watch, thanks to financial reasons.
"However, San Francisco may be more aggressive about trying to move Aiyuk after June 1," Knox writes. "In other words, it may be willing to take less in compensation. A trade before then would cost $19.9 million in additional cap space, while a trade after June 1 would save $1.3 million."
June 1st is important due to financial reasons that could impact the trade negotiations for Brandon Aiyuk.
The Washington Commanders are considered a strong candidate for trading for Brandon Aiyuk, especially since quarterback Jayden Daniels played with him in college.
Brandon Aiyuk is still on the 49ers roster as the team seeks a trade, indicating he will not be part of the team next year.

While the 49ers were able to waive the guarantees on Aiyuk's contract, they are still owing him money on his massive deal. And that is posing a problem in a trade right now, according to Knox.
This situation is very similar to what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing with AJ Brown. While the New England Patriots are strongly tied to the Eagles' superstar WR, they can't realistically trade him before June 1st due to financial reasons.
If the 49ers move on from Aiyuk or if the Eagles move on from Brown before June 1st, they will take on a large cap hit. But, after June 1st, they will instead get some cap savings.
From the 49ers' perspective, trading Aiyuk now makes very little sense unless they get back something good in return. And no team will offer that with how much uncertainty there is with Aiyuk.
Once June 1st comes around, 49ers fans should be paying close attention to trade rumors with Aiyuk. A team might finally swing a trade, as they could finally part with a late-round pick to acquire Aiyuk while the 49ers don't get saddled with a huge cap hit.
