Speaking at an event on the evolution of T20 cricket and Sooryavanshi's emergence in Indian cricket, Kapil said: "I don't know because I haven't seen that. I am like you people. Whatever you put on TV, I see, and I try to make sense out of that. I watch cricket at home on TV, and then giving judgment is not correct.

"People who talk and see everybody, they are better. Like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, or Harsha Bhogle, they can make more sense than I can."

How has Vaibhav Sooryavanshi performed in IPL 2026?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the fourth-highest runscorer in IPL 2026 and is firmly in the race to win the Orange Cap in IPL this season. If he manages to do so, he will be the youngest ever to win the prize.

Sooryavanshi has already scored a century in this edition of the tournament, his second overall. He has maintained a strike rate of 237.64 in 10 innings. He has also hit the most sixes in the current edition of IPL, with 37 maximums to his name.

It is truly breathtaking to see a teenage boy handle the pressure of the IPL with such composure. However, he must be careful with the comparisons to legends of Indian cricket and also to his peers.

The southpaw is, without a doubt, a generational talent, but the youngster still needs to be protected, especially before he makes his way into the international arena for India. At this stage of his career, the teenage sensation must not be burdened with too many expectations and allow him to express himself on the ground without pressure.
