Leftyâs first came in 2005 at Baltusrol Golf Clubâs Lower Course in Springfield, N.J. On the 18th hole, Mickelson hit a flop shot for the ages after escaping a bunker. With Steve Elkington and Thomas Bjorn right on his heels at three-under, Mickelson stayed calm under greenside pressure and hit a shot that set up a putt from just a couple of feet away. He finished one stroke ahead of Elkington and Bjorn to hoist his first Wanamaker Trophy.

During the final round of play at Kiawah, Mickelson holed out from a bunker chip shot to take a two-stroke lead. He went on to win the tournament at 6-under over Louis Oosthuizen and Brooks Koepka (4-under).
