He was on a pitch and innings limit and was six pitches away from his 40-pitch limit when he sustained his ankle injury. The No. 12 Bulldogs (38-14, 15-12 SEC) lost 13-2, their first run-rule loss of 2026.

"I think that he'll be fine and ready to go this weekend, but we'll obviously talk to him today and find out where he's at and get an update when we get out there for practice," O'Connor told SuperTalk Mississippi radio.
The first injury report for the Texas A&M series will be released May 13 at approximately 7:10 p.m. This could provide more clarity on McPherson's status for the Bulldogs as they play their final series of the regular season against the Aggies (37-12, 16-10) in College Station.
McPherson was Mississippi State's Game 1 weekend starter before his forearm injury. He was charged with the loss against Auburn and has a 3-1 record with a 2.62 ERA.
