The Titans are considering Jeremiyah Love for his ability to improve the offense and provide support for quarterback Cam Ward, potentially changing the dynamics of their play.
Jeremiyah Love could serve as a valuable outlet in the passing game and help create favorable situations for the offense, making it harder for defenses to target the quarterback.
Jeremiyah Love is a running back who played college football at Notre Dame.
The Tennessee Titans are considering selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love in the upcoming NFL draft, despite the debate over positional value. NFL Insider Albert Breer highlights Love's potential to enhance the offense and support quarterback Cam Ward.
The Tennessee Titans could go many different ways when the NFL draft rolls around in two weeks, and fans are trying their best to figure out exactly what they will do. Unfortunately, even this close to the draft, no one really knows what to expect.
While edge, linebacker, or wide receiver make a ton of sense, there has been a lot of debate about whether the Titans should discount positional value and select Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. And that was a question posed to NFL Insider Albert Breer in his weekly mailbag.
Titans at No. 4
From ARP Reez (@Reez_Delaghetto): Why are the Titans worried about drafting an RB at 4 when Cam Ward was the most sacked QB in the NFL?
ARP, because a running back, for the reasons we detailed in the Chiefs question above, can change the dynamic for your quarterback. Ask Jared Goff what Todd Gurley meant to him as a developing young player. Ask Dak Prescott the same about coming in with Zeke Elliott.
Out of the box, Love would be a really good outlet guy in the passing game for Ward, creating layups for the young quarterback. Heâd also, presumably, put the offense in second-and-6 and third-and-2 more oftenâgenerating situations that open up the offenseâs playbook and limit what a defense can do schematically to the quarterback. And in the process, both by piling unblocked yards in the run game and helping the team get into more situations where pass rushers canât just tee off, Love would naturally make the line better.
This is a great explanation for why it would make sense for the Titans to grab Love if he is available, and it doesnât mention that Love would be a game-changing weapon who can hit a home run in multiple ways.
Will it happen? At this point, no one knows, but we will all find out in two weeks.
