The Boston Red Sox have gone 3-4 under interim manager Chad Tracy after overhauling their coaching staff, firing manager Alex Cora and multiple other coaches.
Though the Red Sox's offense has still been struggling heavily, batting a mere .107 with runners in scoring position and leaving 29 runners on base during their first home series since firing Cora, the clubhouse has felt different since the coaching changes.
Boston's star first baseman Willson Contreras believes that Cora's firing removed tension from the clubhouse, allowing players to be more loose.
âItâs different with Alex not here,â Contreras said, as transcribed by MassLive's Sean McAdam. âBut after Cora got fired, the guys got loose a little more because I feel like the tension was gone...Thatâs what I felt. Thatâs my own opinion. When Alex wasnât in the dugout (anymore), the team was kinda like loose. But that doesnât matter. We have to play better. We have to find consistency. We have to get better, we have to be better.â
Despite Contreras feeling that a weight has been lifted in the Red Sox's clubhouse since Cora was fired, the overhaul of the coaching staff has not led to the fresh start the team envisioned.

First and foremost, Boston's offense needs to get back on track and be more consistent. The Red Sox have created plenty of opportunities, and if the team wants to turn their season around, then hitters need to take advantage of those moments and produce in key spots.
