Wisconsin hockey captain Ben Dexheimer expressed disappointment after a 2-1 loss to Denver in the National Championship game. Despite being named to the All-Tournament team, he emphasized the significance of winning a title in his senior season.
Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey captain Ben Dexheimer spoke with the media after Denver stole a 2-1 win late in the National Championship game.
Dexheimer was named to the All-Tournament team, but that doesn't mean nearly as much as what it would've meant to win a title in his senior season.
It's not going to be easy for the Badgers to replace the defenseman, but it's clear just how much Dexheimer's time with the program meant to him and his career.
"It's been amazing," he said. "I couldn't have asked for a better four years, I don't think there's a better place to do it at. From where this program was my freshman year to where we are now, I couldn't be more proud to wear the W."
Dexheimer continued, "I think we've kind of set the standard for Wisconsin now and I couldn't be more proud to leave a place in the hands of the guys that are coming back next year and the coaching staff that will keep this program afloat."
The Minnesota native had an assist in the Frozen Four to cap off his incredible four-year career in Madison. Dexheimer had a career high of seven goals this season and will graduate with 84 points in 149 games played.
