Wisconsin men's hockey recruit surging in Central Scouting's rankings

Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey recruit Zach Wooten went from unranked in the mid-term rankings to being named the No. 94 North American skater, according to Central Scouting.

Central Scouting's final 2026 rankings saw the Green Bay Gamblers forward make quite a name for himself heading into the 2026-27 season, where he's expected to join the Badgers.

For what it's worth, Wooten has 62 points in his third USHL season. He appeared in just five games for the Tri-City Storm back in 2023-24, but now he's a 35 goal scorer in 61 appearances with the Gamblers.

Earlier in the month, Wooten was one of three recruits the Badgers praised on social media. At the time, Wooten was third in the USHL with 34 goals and was a main reason why they said, "the future looks bright too."

The now No. 94-ranked NA skater remains third in the league with his 35 goals. He trails Sioux Falls Stampede's Logan Renkowski (43) and Lincoln Stars Alex Pelletier (48).
