A pair of transfer portal additions has strengthened the 2026-27 Wisconsin Badgers women's basketball roster.
Robin Pingeton will be going into her second year as the Badgers' head coach, and she has found a way to add a former five-star recruit and a player who averaged a double-double this past season.
Addie Deal and Kadidia Toure make their way to Madison to play for a team that lost their two leading scorers. Destiny Howell graduated, while Kyrah Daniels was one of four Badgers to enter the portal.
Looking at the team's 2025-26 roster, Howell graduated along with Gift Uchenna Okeke, Ronnie Porter, Lily Krahn, and Shay Bollin. Krahn was the only senior to not start at least one game last season.
Not only did those five players graduate, but Breauna Ware, Jovana Spasovski, and Alie Bisballe are all in the portal alongside Daniels.
After adding Deal and Toure, Wisconsin's roster looks quite a bit different. Laci Steele is the only starter remaining, which leaves two spots still open. Steele, like Toure, will be entering her senior season, so that doesn't give Pingeton a ton of long-term stability with her starting five.
Dorja Iva Zaja is a potential starting candidate. She averaged 5.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in her freshman season which saw her start four games.
None of the other four returnees averaged more than a point per game last season. Leena Patibandla will be entering her senior season having appeared in 40 games with the Badgers. Alba Martin Mesa and Reese Jaramillo are both heading into their junior seasons, but neither player has averaged more than three minutes per game. Finally, Nikki Kerstein is coming off her freshman campaign, which saw her average 7.8 minutes per game in 23 appearances.
Don't forget, Wisconsin landed three in-state recruits on National Signing Day. Their 2026-27 roster has 11 players with the inclusion of incoming freshmen Adaline Sheplee, Leah Nordin, and Giselle Janowski.
