Arnoldâs unwavering commitment to his Lower Saxon outfit has led to him expressing dour emotions at other times this season. This time, Arnold fought back tears of relief and joy whilst speaking on what the victory meant to him. Groin problems have led to the veteran being unable to start for his side since February. Arnold once again worked as a very late sub of the bench for the sixth consecutive match.
âItâs hard for me to find the right words,â the captain managed to slightly stammer into the Sky Germany microphone. âThe guys fought hard. Luck was finally on our side. Weâve been taking it straight on the chin in recent weeks, so Iâm very proud of the team today.
âThis was a brutally important match; by far one of the most important ones of my career,â Arnold continued. âIt really is special. Iâd be lying if I said Iâve enjoyed every single one [of my games] I just enjoy playing in the Bundesliga.â
As matters stand now, Arnold might maintain some hope of enjoying the privilege next year. Among active players currently serving in the top flight, only current Freiburg mega-performer Matthias Ginter (408) has made more top flight appearances.
