The Grand Rapids Griffins go into tonightâs home game against the Chicago Wolves needing to win three of its next four games to advance to the next round of the AHL playoffs
Thatâs the consequences of not getting to their game Thursday in 2-1 loss to Chicago in Game 1 of their best-of-five series.
âWe have to try to get (the Wolves) to play a different game next game, a harder, tight game,â Grand Rapids defenseman William Lagesson said. âNot to create too many chances back and fourth.â
Red Wings management officials are watching this series closely because a handful of these players, notably Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, Carter Mazur, Amadeus Lombardi, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, William Wallinder, Anton Johansson and others, are looking to prove they belong on the Detroit roster.
A Griffinsâ lengthy run would also help Detroitâs efforts to establish a winning culture.
Michal Postava is the go-to goalie for the Griffins in the playoffs. Cayden Primeau, the son of former Red Wings forward Keith Primeau, and Amir Miftakhov split time in net for the Wolves. Based on how well Primeau played in Game 1, he seems like the best choice for Game 2
The Griffins need to win three out of their next four games against the Chicago Wolves to advance.
The next game in the series is scheduled for tonight at the Griffins' home arena.
The Griffins lost the first game of the series 2-1 to the Wolves.
