Xavier men's golf finished second with a score of 13 under par at the 2026 Big East Men's Golf Championship, while Marquette won with 17 under par. DePaul placed third at 12 under par.

Well, it was a valiant effort by Xavier menâs golf, firing off a team score of 13 under par, but they came up short against YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles on Monday at Riverton Pointe Golf Club, as MU finished the three round event with a score of 17 under par. Thatâs still good enough for second place for the Musketeers, as DePaul ended their rounds in Hardeeville at -12âŠ..
[puts fingers to imaginary earpiece]
Yes, I know, -13, I said that part
[listens carefully and intently]
Iâm sorry, what? Youâre kidding.
[continues listening as a look of shock draws over my face]
Well. Okay then.
My apologies everyone, Xavier menâs golf was THIRTEEN UNDER PAR ON MONDAY ALONE. When combined with their rounds of -5 and -3 on Sunday, that leaves the Musketeers at -21 for the three round Big East championship and gives Xavier the programâs first ever Big East menâs golf title. That bests Marquette by four strokes after the Golden Eagles went into Monday with a two stroke lead over DePaul and a three stroke advantage on the Musketeers. The Golden Eagles could âonlyâ shoot -6 as a team on Monday after rounds of -6 and -5 in the 36 hole extravaganza on Sunday. I was not wrong about the DePaul thing though, as Xavierâs -13 in Mondayâs round was enough to beat every team in the competition across three rounds except for MUâs -17.
Xavierâs Cayse Morgan took the individual title, putting up a -8 on Monday to finish at 14 under par in 54 holes. His total score of 202 ties Louisvilleâs Derek Fathauer in 2006 for the lowest 54 hole total in Big East championship history. His -8 on Monday also ties the Big East record for lowest round to par in event history. Everybody in Xavierâs lineup shot par or better to drive the Musketeers to their -13, and as a result, they finished with three players under par in the tournament.
Marquette was led on Monday by a four-under-par 68 from Mischa Candinas. He ended up at -7 for the tournament which landed him in third place on the individual scoreboard, which is MUâs best finish in the tournament this year and earns him a spot on the all-tournament team. Johan Widal shot a -1 on Monday to finish at -4 for the 54 hole tournament and end up in a tie for ninth to give Marquette two top 10 finishers.

Marquette won the championship with a score of 17 under par.
DePaul finished in third place with a score of 12 under par.

While falling short of a team title due to Xavier going full fireball mode is a bit of a bummer, it is still evidence that Marquette is the most consistent team in the Big East. Their second place finish here gives MU 10 finishes in first or second in the Big East Championship in the last 12 meets.
The official team recap of the event doesnât explicitly state that the season is over, nor does it say that the Golden Eagles are waiting for the NCAA selection show to see if anyone qualifies as an individual participant this season. With MU at #70 in the national rankings going into the Big East tournament, I presume thatâs not going to be enough for the Golden Eagles to earn a team at-large berth to the regionals. Then again, they gotta get 81 teams in somehow? I guess weâll find out on Wednesday, May 6, at 1pm Central on the Golf Channel.
