The Xavier Musketeers have secured a commitment from UAB guard Chance Westry, who has two years of eligibility remaining. Westry, a former four-star prospect, previously played for Auburn but faced injury challenges during his freshman season.
After three commitments early in the transfer portal, the Xavier Musketeers added to the backcourt again on Wednesday, April 15 with a commitment from UAB combo guard Chance Westry, according to Joe Tipton of On3Sports.
Westry heads to Xavier with two years of eligibility remaining after battling injuries early in his collegiate career.
Westry originally committed to Auburn as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022. He appeared in just 11 games for the Tigers as a true freshman in 2023. He reaggravated a knee injury that required arthroscopic knee surgery.

Chance Westry (11) was a second-team all-conference selection last season at UAB.
Westry transferred to Syracuse but missed the entire 2023-24 season with a leg injury and redshirted. He appeared in just three games for Syracuse during the 2024-25 season.
He flourished at UAB last season under former UC Bearcats head coach Andy Kennedy. Westry was a second-team all-conference selection after averaging 15.5 points per game. He also led the American Athletic Conference in assists (5.5 per game) and shot 48.7% from the field.
UAB finished 20-12 overall.
He is listed as a four-star transfer and the No. 34 overall prospect in the portal, according to 247Sports.
Xavier's roster is up to 10 scholarship players. Westry is the fourth transfer, joining Mike Nwoko (LSU), Rubén Dominguez (Texas A&M) and Tru Washington (Miami). Xavier has three players from last year on the roster in Gabriel Pozzato, Jovan Milicevic and Kason Westphal. The Musketeers also have their three-player recruiting class.
