Yahoo Sports predicts Caitlin Clark will win the MVP award in the 2026 WNBA season, breaking A'Ja Wilson's streak. The Indiana Fever are also expected to reach the WNBA Finals, with differing predictions on their opponent.
As the 2026 WNBA season begins tonight, media members throughout the WNBA landscape have delved out their predictions for the upcoming campaign, but a few Yahoo Sports have Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever breaking through for a memorable year.
According to Cassandra Negley and Caroline Fenton of Yahoo Sports, both expect the former Hawkeye to capture the league's MVP award at the end of the season, which would be the first of her career. It would also break the current MVP-winning streak of Las Vegas Aces center A'Ja Wilson, who has won the award four times in the past six seasons.
As for who will be in the 2026 WNBA Finals this season, both Negey and Fenton predict that Clark and the Fever will break through and clinch an appearance in the championship series.
However, the two would split their WNBA Finals picks, with Negley picking the Fever over the Las Vegas Aces and Fenton choosing the New York Liberty over the Fever.
While these predictions are promising to the eyes and ears of Fever fans, they are obviously predicated on Indiana staying healthy throughout the season and building on the momentum from last season's WNBA Playoff run.
Indiana tips off its 2026 WNBA regular season on May 9 in a "must-see" matchup against Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and the Dallas Wings from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. That game is scheduled to start at noon CT and will be nationally broadcast on ABC.
