The New York Yankees decided to option Anthony Volpe to Triple-A, a decision that came as somewhat of a surprise. Volpe, who has obviously struggled to be in New York, now has to earn his spot back in Triple-A.
The decision was rather obvious for the Yankees, though they took until the final moments to make the decision.
When speaking about why the Yankees went in that direction, manager Aaron Boone kept his comments simple. He stated that Jose Caballero is playing very well at the moment, and he deserves to continue playing until he proves otherwise.
âCaballero is playing the heck out of the position and playing really well,â Boone said. âThat complicates it⊠âHeâs been right in the middle of that, defensively and offensively,â Boone said of Caballero, per The Athletic. âHeâs earned some opportunities there. Itâs really as simple as that.
