The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees rarely make trades, but two offseasons ago, they made a fairly big one.
In December 2024, the Red Sox sent minor league pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez and future considerations to the Yankees in exchange for Carlos Narvaez.
So far, the swap has worked out great for Boston. Narvaez was one of the better rookies in baseball last year and has already established himself as the team's starting catcher and a clubhouse leader.
Meanwhile, New York is about to get its first look at Rodriguez. On Tuesday, the Yankees announced that they're calling up the 22-year-old right-hander from Triple-A to make his Major League debut against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

Rodriguez, who pitched for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, has been excellent in Triple-A this year with a 1.27 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and a 20:7 K/BB ratio in four starts.
