Just as the team has done overall, the New York Yankeesâ pitching staff has gotten off to quite a hot start this season, posting a team ERA of 3.19 and a WHIP of 1.12, with both stats being either at the top of the leagueâs standings or runner-up.
It shouldnât be any surprise, given the elite pitching rotation that Aaron Boone and the Yankeesâ front office have managed to assemble, with Max Fried, Cam Schlittler, and Will Warren all notching several wins to their name.
One thing that hasnât been talked about too much is the absence of their ace Carlos Rodon, who has been out for the start of the season after undergoing surgery on his left elbow towards the end of last season.
It came off the heels of what was a strong season for the veteran, posting an 18-9 record with an ERA of 3.09 and a WHIP of 1.04, while fanning 203 batters over the course of his 33 appearances.

The 33-year-old has been working on getting back onto the mound this season for New York, and Thursday night provided a promising update on his progress. In his second rehab start with the Yankeesâ Double-A affiliate, the Somerset Patriots, Rodon would strike out eight batters, while allowing five hits.
Thursday nightâs outing was Rodonâs second rehab start of the season, having made an appearance with the Hudson Valley Renegades in late April, throwing 65 pitches across 4.1 innings on the mound.
It appears that Rodon wonât be back with the Yankees just yet, as he is reportedly slated to make another appearance following Thursday night, according to a prior report by Talkinâ Yanks.
