He's since struggled with the Yankees, and this season, after posting a 7.71 ERA in seven innings of work, he's been sent down to the minor leagues. But who is taking his spot?

As Talkin' Yanks shared on Twitter/x, Aaron Boone revealed that 3.78 ERA 28-year-old righty reliever Yerry De Los Santos is getting the call-up to the Majors to replace Bird.

This is a significant change for the Yankees' bullpen, as someone meant to be a viable reliever in Bird is now out, while De Los Santos is getting a chance in the Majors again.

In his big-league career, the 28-year-old righty has a 3.78 ERA across 85.2 innings pitched with 72 strikeouts and a 1.37 WHIP with a 1-5 record across 73 games.

Last year for the Yankees, he posted a solid 3.28 ERA in 25 appearances, while in the minor leagues so far in 2026, he's posted a 1.93 ERA across 9.1 innings of work.

This past spring, he posted a 3.68 ERA in six outings across 7.1 innings pitched. Overall, he's been a solid reliever, and now will get a chance in the Majors this season with the Yankees.

He takes over for Bird in the bullpen, as the Yankees, at 9-7, try to stay atop the AL East with the Baltimore Orioles also tied atop the division with New York.
