The New York Yankees pretty much gave up on Oswald Peraza.
They dealt him before last season's trade deadline to clear 40-man roster space, acquiring a far-away prospect and some international bonus pool money from the Los Angeles Angels.

But it's the kind of move that feels a lot more painful once Peraza shows that some of that potential he was believed to have actually still existed and just needed an opportunity to show itself.
Peraza is having a blast with the Angels. Maybe there's less pressure, maybe he changed his game, maybe he's simply on a hot streak instead of a cold streak.
Whatever the reason, he very much now looks like a player who could help the Yankees, but he no longer plays for the team in pinstripes anymore.
