Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma are reportedly at the centre of an anti-doping controversy after the National Anti-Doping Agency issued them formal notices for failing to be present when dope control officers arrived to collect their samples.
According to *Amar Ujala,*both Jaiswal and Verma are part of NADA's Registered Testing Pool. It is a group of elite athletes who are required to log a specific time and location each day so that dope control officers can show up unannounced to collect samples.
The NADA notice indicates that both players failed to provide required dope test samples, which could lead to disciplinary action.
If Jaiswal and Verma miss two more dope tests, they could face a potential two-year ban.
The NADA updates include the addition of players like Abhishek Sharma and Axar Patel to the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for enhanced monitoring.
Missing dope tests can lead to suspensions or bans from cricket, impacting a player's career and reputation.

A DCO arrived at Jaiswal's registered location on December 17 last year and at Verma's on November 7 last year, but neither cricketer was present. NADA subsequently reached out to both players on February 18 and 20 this year seeking an explanation, but received no response from either.
As a result, the agency formally recorded its first missed test against both of them. The BCCI and ICC have also been informed.
Now, both cricketers have been granted seven days to submit their explanation. It is a standard procedure that allows athletes to provide context before any further action is taken.
An athlete who accumulates three missed tests within a 12-month window is considered to have committed an anti-doping violation.
Should either player fail to prove their innocence before NADA's hearing panel, they could face a suspension of up to two years. With one missed test already recorded, both Jaiswal and Verma are now firmly on notice.
NADA has also released its updated Registered Testing Pool for the second quarter of 2026. The revised list now includes 348 athletes across multiple sports.
In cricket, T20 World Cup winners Abhishek Sharma and Axar Patel have been brought into the pool, replacing Smriti Mandhana and Shreyas Iyer. The total number of cricketers currently in the RTP stands at 14.
