Abhishek Sharma scored an unbeaten 135 to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026. SRH set a target of 242 runs, showcasing a powerful batting display.
Sunrisers Hyderabad rode on a blistering unbeaten 135 from Abhishek Sharma to crush Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in a high-scoring IPL 2026 encounter in Hyderabad on Tuesday, continuing their surge up the points table.
The swashbuckling left-hander produced one of the innings of the season, smashing 10 fours and 10 sixes in a 68-ball masterclass to propel SRH to a daunting 242/2 after being put in to bat. It marked his second IPL century and further cemented his position as one of the most destructive batters around.
Abhishek set the tone early, stitching a 97-run opening stand with Travis Head (37) before accelerating through the middle overs. He found ideal support in Heinrich Klaasen, who hammered an unbeaten 37 off just 13 balls to finish the innings in style.
“The way we started we had a plan, me and Heady wanted to make use of the powerplay,” Abhishek said. “But the wicket was slow, so we had to adjust and come up with different plans.”
Delhi Capitals’ chase never truly gathered momentum despite a promising 86-run stand between KL Rahul (37) and Nitish Rana (57). Once the duo fell in quick succession, the visitors slipped behind the required rate.
Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga turned the game decisively with a superb spell of 4/32, including two wickets in two balls to dent Delhi’s middle order. Tristan Stubbs (27) and Sameer Rizvi (41) briefly revived hopes with a 59-run stand, but Malinga’s return ended any resistance as DC finished on 195/9.
Delhi skipper Axar Patel acknowledged Abhishek’s brilliance, saying: “If someone bats that well… you cannot do anything. You have to move on.”
The victory lifted SRH to third on the table with four wins in seven matches, while Delhi slipped to fifth.
