āAlvarez is the game-changer the Red Sox need to lift their offense and get them out of a pattern of close games. He's also one of few hitters who could match up with Aaron Judge if an October grudge match with the Yankees comes to fruition,ā Rymer wrote.

Right now, the Red Sox rank in the bottom five for total runs and runs batted in (RBI). They also are tied second for last in on base percentage plus slugging (OPS), and are dead last in home runs.
Alvarez could almost single-handedly fix that. Heās slashing a whopping .347/.466/.779 with an outstanding OPS of 1.245, as well as having 11 home runs, 26 RBI in just 26 games. Having Alvarez would bring the Red Sox from last in home runs to No. 20.
Alvarez also slashes insane stats at Fenway. In his career, heās mashed a .488 average with seven home runs and 16 RBI in only 12 games at Fenway Park.
What Boston lacks in offense, Houston lacks in pitching. In his article, Rymer mentions the Sox have the young pitching talent, such as Payton Tolle and Kyson Witherspoon to name a couple, to make a deal with the Astros. They could also trade an outfielder, such as Jarren Duran, as the Astros need help there as well.
On paper, this trade could be a match made in Heaven. Alvarez could be the key to saving the Soxā season, and the next two as he plays out his six-year, $115 million contract. If the Sox are serious about contention, which they should be, they need to get on the phone now.
