Drew Scharnowski announced on Sunday that heâs transferring to Duke from Belmont, which has led a lot of people to ask: who is Drew Scharnowski?
As it turns out, heâs pretty promising.
When you watch this video, youâll see a guy who is big, athletic, and smart.
He is a capable defender, and a willing one, who could pick up some of Maliq Brownâs responsibilities. Statistically, he played about 22 minutes, averaged 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 blocks. He shot 68.1% overall, but just 20% from deep, and free throws are a significant weakness at just 43.6% on a team that finished around 70 in KenPom.
So he probably wonât spend a lot of time on the perimeter. However, when you watch the linked video, youâll notice that he has an unusual intelligence for passing. This guy makes some pretty great passes. In particular, he has a knack for getting the ball to teammates who are moving through traffic to the basket. Not everyone can do that.
He seems like a good fit for what Scheyer has looked for in big guys.
Drew Scharnowski's specific stats from Belmont are not detailed, but he is noted for being a promising player with strong athletic abilities.
