Allegany County All-Greater Rochester softball stars are back in 2026

One thing's for sure: There will be plenty of turnover from last year's All-Greater Rochester softball team. Of the 17 first team selections, 12 were departing seniors.

That includes Haverling's Kaili Witherell, who was selected as Player of the Year, and Caydence Spears, along with Wellsville's Makenna Dunbar. Haverling coach Rachel Ratchford was the Coach of the Year in 2025.

That implies a changing of the guard, but there are still several returners from last year hoping to duplicate last year's success, including a trio from Allegany County.

Here are this year's returning first- and second-team All-Greater Rochester selections:

Kennedy Perry, Wellsville (second team)

Junior pitcher finished with a 0.19 ERA in eight appearances (one start), plus a .470 average at the plate (six doubles, two triples) with 24 runs and 29 RBIs last season for Section V champion Wellsville.

Morghyn Ross, Fillmore (first team)

Junior catcher recorded a .643 batting average last year as her team captured Section V’s Class D championship. Ross was also named first team all-state for the second consecutive year.

Kylee Whiting, Bolivar-Richburg (second team)

Sophomore infielder/pitcher recorded a .446 batting average (11 doubles, one triple, one home run) with 20 runs and 27 RBIs. Whiting was also effective in the circle, with a 7-2 win-loss record and 1.28 ERA, which earned a second team all-state nod in Class D.

Jessie Crye, Avon (first team)

Senior pitcher posted a .065 ERA and 263 strikeouts, helped the River Hawks reach the Class B-2 title game, and was second team all-state in Class B.

Sydney Falsone, Bloomfield (second team)

Sophomore had a .564 batting average with 13 RBIs and 38 runs as the Bombers won the state title. Falsone was also selected first team all-state in Class C.

Emma Johnson, Eastridge (second team)

Senior catcher was a third team all-state selection in Class A, as Eastridge reached the section title game.

Emma Juliano, Webster Schroeder (second team)

Senior second baseman recorded a .381 batting average (four doubles, two triples, one homer) with 16 runs and 18 RBIs.

Kinsley Keil, Webster Schroeder (first team)

Junior shortstop had a .559 batting average as Schroeder reached the Class AA section final.

Gabby Lyons, Pittsford Sutherland (first team)

Senior shortstop finished with a .561 batting average, was MVP of the Class A section tournament and named second team all-state.

Ella Maley, Penfield (second team)

Senior centerfielder is considered one of the top players at her position.

Calla McCombs, Bloomfield (first team)

Senior catcher had a .427 batting average with five doubles and seven triples. McCombs was pivotal as the Bombers marched to the Class C state title, and was also selected first team all-state.

Ella Newell, Spencerport (second team)

Senior third baseman patrolled the hot corner for the 12-win Rangers last year.

Julia Poligone, Fairport (second team)

Senior catcher had a .389 batting average in 63 plate appearances, with 11 RBIs, four triples and two doubles.

Alex Van Ginhoven, Pittsford Mendon (second team)

Junior shortstop is one of Section V’s best infielders.
