As Arsenal head into the run-in with the chance to stretch their lead over Manchester City to 12 points with a win over Bournemouth, Viktor Gyokeres has spelled out the thinking behind his move to north London last August.
For him, the attraction was not simply joining a leading side, but joining one whose target was identical to his own.
âThat was my goal [to win the Premier League] and the whole clubâs goal as well,â Gyokeres said. âWe all have been aiming for that, and weâre still aiming for that.
âItâs the same for everyone involved, and you have to have the same goals and want to achieve the same things.
âEvery player has different experiences through their careers and different feelings about the same situations,â Gyokeres added. âItâs important to come with a different mindset sometimes and to look at it in a different way, but with the same intentions as everyone else in the club, and together with everyone.
âWe have a lot of players in the team who have won trophies, and thatâs what we want to do again this season.

âYou have to be so focused every game and take every game as seriously as you can, no matter who you play. All the points that you get count in the end.
âYou have to think like that, but also not get too frustrated if it doesnât go your way because itâs always a long season and thereâs still a lot to play for.
âEven now, when weâre in April, thereâs a lot of games still to play, we just have to focus on doing our job and to enjoy it. âNot think too much about what can happen or how the end result is going to be. The most important thing is to play football and to enjoy it on the pitch.â
He added: âIf you fell nerves, it means that it matters for you. âItâs not bad if you take it in the right way and put that energy in the right direction. To have nerves is only bad if you convert it into something negative.â
Gyokeres has scored 17 goals for Arsenal since his move, with 11 of those coming in the league.
