Carlos Alcaraz is aiming to bounce back from a brief dip in form by defending his title at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
The world number one hasnāt lifted a trophy since the Qatar Open back in February, following defeats to Daniil Medvedev and Sebastian Korda during the Sunshine Double.
Alcaraz got his Monte-Carlo campaign off to a solid start with a win over Sebastian Baez, and heās now set to face Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the next round.

Becker spoke with the media during the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he had a lot of positive things to say about the current world number one.
āAlcaraz is a fascinating player. He is exactly what the world of tennis needed. He is very charismatic. Itās a joy to watch him.
āA true artist on the court. All artists have to be inspired by something or someone. He is inspired by Sinner and by some challenges.ā
But despite his praise, Becker also pointed out an area where Alcaraz could face problems if he isnāt careful.
The German icon explained: āBut if the matches go too easily for him, he will probably feel a bit bored.ā
Alcaraz has had several early exits against lower-ranked opponents in major tournaments, including losses to David Goffin and Korda in Miami and Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters.
Becker isnāt the first to mention that Alcaraz looks uninterested at times. Patrick Mouratoglou previously sparked discussion by sharing a similar view.
āMy feeling is that [Carlos] Alcaraz is bored. The guy already has seven Grand Slams, and I feel like playing Masters 1000s; heās won so many already, heās not that interested. Thatās really a feeling that I have,ā said Mouratoglou on Instagram.
Andy Roddick, in particular, took offence to Mouratoglouās comments about Alcaraz.
āIād say thatās a really hard opinion to commit to unless you actually know something,ā said the American on Served.
āI think itās borderline disrespectful to tennis earth, and players, and someone who is nine in the world and beats Alcaraz. If Iām [Daniil] Medvedev and I see that, I might get CTE from my eyeroll!
āTo me, thatās ridiculous,ā Roddick continued. āWithout knowing, that feels thirsty for clicks.ā
With Becker now adding his voice to the mix, it remains to be seen how much reaction his comments will draw.
