Carlos Alcaraz eyes Andy Murray’s Monte‑Carlo record — Will he do it?

Carlos Alcaraz has put together a solid start to his title defence at the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he’s won his opening two matches against Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Next up for him is a third-round clash with Alexander Bublik.

The Spaniard has some extra motivation this week, too. He’s aiming to add a ninth Masters 1000 title and a 27th ATP tour-level crown to his collection. After crashing out early in Miami, he’s also got the top ranking in his sights, with Jannik Sinner closing in fast.

Alcaraz heads into Monte-Carlo having already matched Andy Murray’s career total of 46 weeks at world number one. If he can string together another strong run here, he’ll pass the former Wimbledon champion for good.

Alcaraz closing in on Murray’s career prize money total

Carlos Alcaraz is not only making headlines for his titles and ranking but also for his growing career earnings. The 22-year-old has already collected $64,336,028 from ATP tournaments, placing him fifth on the all-time list.

His rise through the financial rankings has been swift, with only Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray ahead of him.

Murray’s spot looks set to change soon. Alcaraz is closing in fast and could move past the former world number one if he makes it to the Monte-Carlo Masters final.

The Monte-Carlo winner will earn €974,370, with the runner-up taking home €532,120. Either amount would push Alcaraz above Murray into fourth place on the all-time earnings list.

Jannik Sinner’s standing in ATP career prize money

Alcaraz isn’t the only one racking up significant earnings on tour. Jannik Sinner, his main rival, is also closing in fast.

Sinner sits seventh on the all-time prize money list with a total of $61,191,211. That places him just behind Alexander Zverev and Alcaraz.

Zverev, currently ranked world number three, has banked $61,319,289 over his career.

This year alone, Sinner has already taken home $3,215,260 after wins at Indian Wells and Miami Open and a semi-final run at the Australian Open.

The single-season prize money record is held by Djokovic, who earned $21,646,145 during his remarkable 2015 season.
