Evaluating Colts' depth chart on offense ahead of 2026 NFL draft

With the 2026 NFL draft near, let's dive into the current state of the Indianapolis Colts' depth chart on offense.

What we see today will not be exactly what the roster looks like come training camp. With the Colts having seven draft picks, along with undrafted free agency still to take place, there is a good amount of roster maneuvering that has yet to happen.

We also can't rule out Chris Ballard making a veteran free agent addition after the NFL draft, which is common practice around the NFL as teams look to round out their training camp rosters.

But what this exercise does prior to the draft is highlight where some of the Colts' more pressing roster needs may lie ahead of the NFL draft.

Quarterback

• Daniel Jones
• Anthony Richardson
• Riley Leonard
• Seth Henigan

Assuming the Colts do find a trade partner for Anthony Richardson, that still leaves them with Riley Leonard as the team's backup. Perhaps after the draft, the Colts will sign a UDFA to compete with Seth Henigan for the third quarterback spot on the depth chart. Given the needs on this roster elsewhere, the Colts may not have the luxury of using a draft pick on a quarterback.

Running back

• Jonathan Taylor
• DJ Giddens
• Ulysses Bentley IV

Adding to this position group in the draft to bolster the depth and competition behind Taylor should be on Chris Ballard's radar, although I wouldn't anticipate an early-round selection.

Wide receiver

• Alec Pierce
• Josh Downs
• Ashton Dulin
• Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
• Anthony Gould
• Laquon Treadwell
• Coleman Owen
• Eli Pancol

Westbrook-Ikhine and Ashton Dulin are the likely frontrunners competing for that playing time alongside Perice and Downs, but another addition at this position to boost competition and hopefully raise the floor of this unit should still be on Ballard's radar.

Tight end

• Tyler Warren
• Mo Alie-Cox
• Drew Ogletree
• Will Mallory
• Sean McKeon
• Carson Towt

Another addition doesn't have to be made here, but adding some competition for that fourth tight end spot on the roster wouldn't be a bad idea. Also, the draft is about planning ahead, and Alie-Cox, Ogletree, and Mallory are all free agents in 2027.

Offensive line

• G LaDarius Henderson
• G Bill Murray
• G Quenton Nelson
• G Josh Sills
• G Dalton Tucker

The good news is that the Colts' starting five is already on the roster. Jalen Travis will presumably take over at right tackle for Braden Smith. That said, there isn't a ton of experienced depth behind the starters on the current roster. Adding competition should be on Ballard's to-do list.
