FC Bayern board member for marketing & sales Rouven Kasper: "It speaks volumes that FC Bayern will be undertaking its tenth Audi Summer Tour overseas. In football, the number â10â stands for creating momentum and setting the direction and pace. Internationalisation is essential for the whole of German football to continue to develop â and FC Bayern has been a pioneering force in this field for years. We are at home in Munich and at the same time keep our fans and partners all over the world in mind. Around a billion people follow FC Bayern, a good half of whom are from Asia. We are very much looking forward to this trip.â
Marco Schubert, member of the board of management for sales and marketing at AUDI AG, explained: âIâm glad that together with our partner FC Bayern, we can bring not only football but also our cars to life for fans and customers. Together, we showcase the strengths of our two brands. The Asian markets are very important to us.â
FC Bayern have visited Hong Kong and South Korea once each so far: in 2007, the team with new signings Franck RibĂ©ry and Luca Toni beat Brazilian top club FC SĂŁo Paulo 2-1 in Hong Kong, with Miroslav Klose and Hamit Altintop scoring for Bayern. In the summer of 2024, Bayern beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the South Korean capital Seoul, where more than 64,000 fans saw Leon Goretzka and Gabriel VidoviÄ find the net. Asia will be the destination for the Audi Summer Tour for the fifth time â China (twice), Japanâs capital Tokyo in conjunction with Singapore and most recently Seoul have been on the itinerary. The Munich side has travelled to the USA five times so far. In addition to its office in New York, the club maintains its own offices in the major Chinese city of Shanghai, Bangkok (Thailand) and Seoul, enabling it to engage directly with fans in their home region.
The Audi Summer Tour has been staged nine times so far, plus two digital versions during the coronavirus pandemic. Unforgettable highlights include matches in a wide variety of fascinating stadiums around the world against top international teams and, above all, the countless activations with local fans as well as visits to the Capitol in Washington or the city prefecture in Tokyo. Thanks to these tours, Germanyâs most successful club continues to grow its network not only in sporting terms, but also in economic and social terms. FC Bayern currently boasts more than 80 fan clubs in Asia with over 9,500 members.
