Kentucky basketball has secured its first commitment from the transfer portal with former Washington point guard Zoom Diallo. Diallo averaged 15.7 points per game last season and was previously named Washington's Gatorade Player of the Year in high school.
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats have secured their first commitment through the transfer portal with the addition of Zoom Diallo. The former Washington point guard made the announcement on Wednesday evening, following his official visit to Kentucky this past weekend.
Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, Diallo had an impressive season, averaging 15.7 points while shooting an impressive 48.9% from the field. His stats also included 3.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 0.7 steals per game during the 2025-26 season.
In his freshman year at Washington, Diallo showcased his talent by participating in all 31 games, starting in 22 of them, and playing an average of 25.2 minutes per game. He demonstrated his scoring ability with an average of 11.1 points per game and notable performances like a standout game against Rutgers where he scored 20 points.
Diallo's high school career was nothing short of stellar; he truly lived up to his name "Zoom." As a junior at Curtis Senior High School, he earned recognition as Washington's Gatorade Player of the Year before embarking on his prep career the following year. During that junior year, he averaged an impressive 20.2 points, along with 5.5 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game.
He carried this momentum into Prolific Prep, where he earned McDonald's All-American honors and received an invitation to the prestigious Nike Hoops Summit in 2024. Ultimately, Diallo ranked among the top-30 recruits in his class and chose to commit to Washington and Coach Sprinkle over offers from Arizona, USC, and Gonzaga.
Although Kentucky initially pursued Diallo during Coach Calipari's era without extending a formal offer, they have now seized this opportunity to bring him into their program. It appears Diallo is poised to become the starting point guard for the Wildcats as he joins a roster that currently features Trent Noah, Kam Williams, Reece Potterâand likely Malachi Moreno.
