Dating back to the 2012 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James and Kevin Durant are familiar with each other. It is a rivalry between two mega stars that goes a long way back.
They played against each other two more times in the NBA Finals series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Now, they have to play each other for the fourth time, as they are now playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets.
Through the years, people have come to appreciate Durant and James more and more. They are tried and tested legends with legacies that are hard to match. This will be their fourth matchup in the postseason, the first non-Finals one as well.
Durant has the 2-1 lead over James, and the latter has the opportunity to equalize this time around. Despite that, the Lakers will be a shorthanded team because they do not have Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

LeBron has to turn back the clock as the Lakers' superstar again. At 41, it can be challenging to return to the top of his game, but James has already proven that anything is possible throughout his 20+ years in the league.
Durant himself is excited about this matchup because it's another chance to go up against his friend and longtime rival.
"Itâs always great playing against great players. You feel their presence on the floor even if youâre not matched up with them... It's more than just one, two, or three players," Durant said about his matchup against James.
"Of course, from the outside looking in, casual folks who are not in the life with us every day, yeah, the matchup is definitely fun. Two great players who have been in the league for a long time, but everybody whoâs involved in this series knows itâs much deeper than that."
Durant truly appreciates his rivalry with LeBron, but he also values his friendship. This will be a fun matchup, not only because it's a rivalry, but also because it's another opportunity to see two all-time greats showcase their skills on the biggest stage.
