NFL draft insider's intel hints at Bengals first-round plans

A little more momentum toward figuring out what the Cincinnati Bengals want to do at No. 10 overall is never a bad thing, right?

As the NFL draft inches closer, it has increasingly felt like the Bengals are looking at the best edge rusher or cornerback on the board when they get to the podium.

And if we’re talking about cornerbacks, it always comes down to two names: Mansoor Delane out of LSU and Jermod McCoy from Tennessee.

ESPN’s Matt Miller recently provided insight into things around the Bengals based on what he’s hearing:

“What we're hearing about the Bengals' draft: The Bengals are in prime position to address their cornerback need at No. 10. Mansoor Delane (LSU) and Jermod McCoy (Tennessee) sit atop the CB board, and it's likely one will be there when Cincinnati picks. After signing Mafe, it sounds like secondary is the team's Round 1 priority.”

The only real curveball that feels like it could mess up the draft plan for the Bengals at this point is if linebacker Sonny Styles takes an unexpected fall. It’s also worth wondering where and how they rate safety Caleb Downs on their big board.

Given the history around the Bengals taking first-round cornerbacks, that might not be the most appealing for fans. But when both of the mentioned guys are consensus top 15 talents, it’s going to be hard to complain about adding one to the duo of Dax Hill and DJ Turner.
