AUGUSTA, Ga. — No, not even Augusta National is inflation-proof.
Case in point: the cost of the blueberry muffin.
A year ago, a blueberry muffin at the Masters would set you back $2. This year: $2.50.
Same for the southern cheese straws.
And the cookie — that’s gone from $1.75 to $2.
And yet, the concession prices at the Masters remain notoriously low as they have for decades.
Egg salad sandwich — still $1.50.
Pimento cheese sandwich — still $1.50 (though some might claim that’s $1.50 too much).
Georgia peach ice cream sandwich, one of the newer items on the menu — $3.
Beer — still $6, domestic or imported, which is odd because every other alcohol retailer in America tells us those imported beers cost more. Hmmm.

Masters menu
As a point of fact, beer prices stood at $5 for more than a decade until Augusta National jacked them all the way up to $6 two years ago.
But did that stop the patrons?
Hardly, they’re still stacking beer cups as high as they can until the stack either tips over or a green jacket shows them the exit.
The lone new item on the menu this year is the “Masters candy bar,” which you can pick up for $2.25. It’s a combination Rolo/Butterfinger/100 Grand.
If you want to try one of everything, it will cost you a grand total of $75.75 — or roughly half a quarter-zip in the merchandise shop.
As for the cost of admission to pay these exorbitantly low prices, well, you either have to win the Masters lottery or … grab one of the few remaining tickets on the secondary market, which for Thursday’s Round 1 will only set you back about $34,000.
