Oregon Ducks guard Wei Lin has entered the transfer portal, becoming the sixth player to do so after the team's disappointing 12-20 season. Lin, who averaged 6.6 points and 1.7 assists per game last season, has two years of eligibility remaining.
The transfer portal is officially open for college basketball, and the Oregon Ducks have lost another important piece of their rotation. Ducks guard Wei Lin announced his entrance into the transfer portal on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
A Chinese national, Lin joined the Ducks as a sophomore for the 2025-26 season after playing three seasons with the Nanjing Monkey Kings in the Chinese Basketball Association. Before coming to Eugene, Lin averaged 21 points, five assists and 1.4 steals per game with the Monkey Kings in the 2024-25 season.
Unfortunately, that level of success didn't translate to the college game, where Lin primarily came off the bench. Lin played in 30 games for the Ducks last season and made nine starts, averaging 6.6 points and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 34.4% from the field, but only connected on 29.5% of his shots from 3-point range. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining at the collegiate level.
Lin is the sixth Duck to enter the portal since Oregon's season came to an end with a 12-20 record, marking the worst campaign under Dana Altman. Jackson Shelstad and Kwame Evans Jr. headline the Ducks' early entrants into the portal, while Dezdrick Lindsay, Devon Pryor and JJ Frakes are also preparing to leave the program.
That leaves just four players under scholarship remaining on the Ducks' current roster: Sean Stewart, Efe Vatan, Ege Demir and Jamari Phillips. The Ducks will add talented freshmen Tajh Ariza and Kendre Harrison before next season, but Altman has his work cut out for him, needing to add plenty of talent in the transfer portal, especially in the backcourt.
