The Boston Red Sox's offense had not scored more than six runs in a game until Saturday, and Willson Contreras delivered a message after that game to hopefully get the offense going more consistently.
âWe talked today about having more energy than before and we did,â Contreras said after Saturdayâs game, per MassLive Chris Cotillo. âI think thatâs what happens when you try to put your focus on having good energy and not trying to seek results. Contreras and Trevor Story both had four hits, and things seem to be turning around for the Red Sox. They've now won back-to-back series, and some of their stars still have not hit their stride. It's a long season, so the Red Sox still have plenty of work to do.
As for Contreras, he is proving to be the hitter the Red Sox needed, while also filling the leadership void left by Alex Bregman. He is very outspoken and plays with an edge that can impact games. He wants to see his teammates play with some energy as well, and on Sunday, they did.
