The Detroit Tigers saw every other MLB team sign their star rookies to new mega deals, and decided to get in on the act themselves. The Tigers announced an eight-year extension with star shortstop â and former top prospect â Kevin McGonigle on Wednesday.
McGonigle, 21, entered the season as the consensus No. 2 overall prospect in baseball. He made the Tigers out of spring training and is already off to a promising start in his first taste of the majors.
The team confirmed McGonigleâs extension in a post on X.
