Rosenior confirmed last week Fernandez would be suspended for Chelsea’s next two games after comments made over his future during the international break.
The Argentine sat out the 7-0 win against Port Vale, and will serve the final game of his suspension against Manchester City on Sunday.
The decision to suspend Fernandez has drawn a mixed reaction, with opinion seemingly split over whether it was the right thing to do.
It’s been reported the players tried to get Rosenior to overturn the ban, but it’s apparent the suspension will be upheld despite the magnitude of the City game.
Fernandez’s agent believes the decision was unfair, and it likely won’t have helped when the Argentine comes to decide his future.
Some have viewed the decision as Rosenior trying to show he has authority, and Johnson has accused the head coach of being a “bit egotistical.”
“As an outsider looking in, it looks clear that Rosenior is trying to deliver a public message,” he told Mail Sport.
“He’s saying, ‘Look, I am not taking any s***’. Which for me is a bit egotistical.
“You could have easily just not picked him and said he is injured or something or given him a big fine.”
