Florida State University basketball has secured a commitment from Kameron Taylor, the leading scorer from UNC Asheville, who averaged 18.9 points per game. Taylor, a 6-foot-7 wing, was highly sought after in the transfer portal and chose FSU after an official visit.
Luke Loucks has landed his marquee transfer portal target. UNC Asheville wing Kameron Taylor committed to Florida State on Wednesday, per On3's Joe Tipton, giving the Seminoles one of the most productive scorers available in this cycle and a long-term building block at a position of critical need.
Taylor was one of the most decorated players in the Big South this season, earning All-Conference First Team honors after averaging 18.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across 32 games — 30 of which he started. His scoring output led the league and established him as one of the most coveted mid-major prospects to enter the portal this spring.
The 6-foot-7 wing was ranked No. 78 overall in On3's transfer portal industry rankings, with interest from programs spanning nearly every conference in the country. Florida State ultimately won out, closing the recruitment after hosting Taylor on campus for an official visit this past weekend.
The Seminoles' pursuit moved quickly. What began as a Zoom call between Taylor and the FSU staff was followed by an official visit, and Taylor ultimately chose the Seminoles over a long list of suitors that included Indiana, Texas A&M, and others.
Taylor is a Charlotte native who will arrive in Tallahassee with two years of eligibility remaining, a detail that made him particularly attractive for a program building toward long-term ACC contention. He joins Cincinnati transfer Shon Abaev, a former top-30 recruit and McDonald's All-American, among FSU's portal additions this cycle. Together, the two pickups address the Seminoles' most pressing offseason needs: scoring punch on the wing and elite front-court athleticism.
With Taylor now in the fold, Loucks has secured a proven, high-volume scorer who should be ready to contribute immediately in ACC play. His combination of size, shot-creation, rim pressure, and defensive versatility gives FSU a true difference-maker to anchor its backcourt and wing rotation heading into the 2026-27 season.
