Per his Instagram, 2025 five-star recruit and former Houston Cougars wing Isiah Harwell has committed to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. This is the Zags’ first acquired transfer in this recruiting cycle.
The 6-6, 220-pound freshman chose Houston over Gonzaga, Texas Longhorns, and California Golden Bears, coming out of Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah.
While dealing with a lingering knee injury during the 2025-26 season, Harwell saw only 13.8 minutes per 32 appearances for coach Kelvin Sampson. He averaged a mere 3.6 points per game on a shooting split of 27.9 field goal percentage, 27.1 three-point percentage, and 61.3 free throw percentage.
Once 100 percent healthy, the former McDonald’s All-American from Pocatello, Idaho, will bring a pretty jumper with that smooth release of his to a unit that struggled desperately with shooting outside the perimeter. Harwell has a strong build, combined with burst and speed when playing above the rim. He should complement freshman point guard Mario Saint-Supery well in the backcourt.
Gonzaga’s 2026-27 roster right now consists of:
Freshman point guard Mario Saint-Supery
Freshman wing Isiah Harwell
Freshman wing Davis Fogle
Redshirt junior forward Braden Huff
Redshirt freshman forward Parker Jefferson
Redshirt sophomore guard Joaquim Arauz-Moore
Freshman guard Alonzo Metz
2026 wing Luca Foster
2026 center Sam Funches
2026 combo guard Jack Kayil
Coach Mark Few’s group is far from complete and lacking size at the basket, but it does have an abundant amount of NBA potential and talent already. As the Pac-12 Conference era begins for the program, powerhouse Gonzaga still looks like the team to beat. Adding a big like Arizona State Sun Devils freshman center Massamba Diop through the transfer portal would put the Zags in the national conversation.
