Games like this often hinge on a single moment of quality. In the 51st minute, Cherki delivered exactly that. His cross had just enough disguise and just enough invitation for Nico O’Reilly, who powered in a header for his fifth league goal of the season.

That goal shifted the rhythm entirely. Manchester City grew sharper, quicker in thought and execution, while Chelsea began to hesitate.

Six minutes later, it was Cherki again, threading a precise pass through the defensive line. Marc Guehi, once of Chelsea, finished with composure into the far corner. The away end responded accordingly.

If the second goal tilted the match, the third ended it. Moises Caicedo was caught in possession deep in his own half, a costly lapse at this level. Jeremy Doku did the rest, driving forward and finishing cleanly to make it 3-0 in the 68th minute.

From there, it was game management. Manchester City did not need to overextend, they simply controlled space and tempo, ensuring there would be no route back.
