As one of the biggest and richest clubs in England, it is a shock that Tottenham Hotspur have been embroiled in a relegation battle down the stretch run of the 2025-26 season.

Spurs have been miserable throughout much of the domestic campaign, even as they reached the Champions League Round of 16.

Now fighting for their Premier League lives, Tottenham are pushing to avoid catastrophe with Roberto De Zerbi now aboard as the club's third manager of the season.

The Sporting News looks at where they stand in the hunt for Premier League safety, who they have on the horizon, and what they need to remain safe from relegation.

Tottenham 2025/26 Premier League run-in fixtures, schedule

Tottenham have a difficult finish to the Premier League season. While they don't face any clubs in the top five of the standings, they still have a few tricky fixtures to navigate.

The run-in begins on April 12 with a road trip to 11th-place Sunderland who have won two of their last three and generally impressed throughout the campaign. They then welcome 10th-placed Brighton to London, a team which has won four of its last five.

After the calendar turns to May, they have a critical fixture against fellow relegation candidate Leeds, with a conclusion to the season that entails a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea and a final day at home against a strong and in-form Everton side.

West Ham's 4-0 win over Wolves on April 10 saw Spurs drop into the relegation zone, although they have a game in hand on the Hammers.

The gap is only two points, so victory in that match will see Spurs climb back above their London rivals.

What do Tottenham need to avoid relegation?

While it's still just a bit early for scenarios and permutations, the simple fact is Tottenham must match or better the finish of at least one of West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United.

The important one is West Ham, who are now above them in the standings after playing a game more. If Spurs can climb back above the Hammers and maintain that position, they should be in good shape.

Burnley and Wolves in 19th and 20th respectively are too far back to realistically make a charge and overtake Tottenham.

If Tottenham can catch Forest or Leeds above them, that would be an even better avenue to safety, as it would give Spurs additional cushion between themselves and the drop.
