World Sevens Football to land in London as Man United and Aston Villa places confirmed
World Sevens Football (W7F) has announced it will be hosting its first-ever London edition this year. The tournament will take place from 28th to 30th May at Brentfordâs Gtech Community Stadium.
The event will form a blockbuster weekend in womenâs football, ahead of the Adobe Womenâs FA Cup final, which will be held at Wembley Stadium on 31st May.
After successful editions in Estoril, Portugal and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, organisers believe the fresh London edition marks W7Fâs next phase of growth and evolution.
Unlike previous editions, such as that in Portugal last year, the London edition is exclusive to the English league. Teams from seven countries battled it out last summer, with Bayern Munich crowned champions.
However, this summerâs series will see eight Womenâs Super League clubs participate in celebration of one of the worldâs most competitive leagues. Manchester United and Aston Villa are the two teams confirmed to be taking part so far.
âWorld Sevens Football London Edition is the next step, showcasing one of the gameâs leading leagues and creating something that is tailored to their clubs, their players, and their fans, while staying true to the energy and creativity that define W7F,â said Jen Mackesy, coâfounder of World Sevens Football.
W7F is an innovative 7v7 womenâs football competition designed to showcase skill and new levels of competitiveness.
The tournament debuted in May 2025, with eight of Europeâs top clubs. Held in Estoril, Portugal, Bayern Munich reigned supreme as they defeated Manchester United in the final.
The second edition in Fort Lauderdale invited teams from across North and South America. San Diego FC, from the National Womenâs Soccer League, lifted the title.
Led by CEO Sarah Cummins, an experienced Player Advisory Council â featuring Tobin Heath, Anita Asante, Laura Georges, Kelley OâHara and Caroline Seger â guides the tournament and champions the beauty of womenâs football.
The eight WSL clubs will meet in a three-day window at the Gtech Community Stadium in West London as they battle it out for a $1.5 million prize pot. For the World Sevens tournament, players will play on a smaller natural-pitch to accommodate the 7-a-side format.
Games will be 30 minutes long and will allow for rolling substitutions to ensure player management and high-tempo play. The event will also go beyond the pitch, as organisers have placed a strong focus on atmosphere and entertainment.
Fans will have the opportunity to watch multiple teams over the weekend, alongside enjoying live music and football culture.

These were the words spoken by Manchester United boss, Marc Skinner, after his side finished second last summer. The Red Devils will be competing once again alongside Aston Villa, who have also been named as participants.
Ameesh Manek, Director of Football Operations & Womenâs Football, Manchester United Women, said: âEveryone is looking forward to returning to the World Sevens Football tournament. It is an excellent format that I know the team really enjoyed last year.â
For Manchester United, who are only fighting for the league title, the W7F tournament will provide an âexciting finaleâ after a tough season, which is likely to see derby rivals Manchester City lift their first league title in 10 years.

After its inaugural year, World Sevens captured the hearts of many teams and fans. It was a way for players to unwind after a long and tiring season and invent new, engaging celebrations.
For fans around the world, it provided them with the opportunity not only to watch different players but also to open their eyes to a new style of football.
World Cup winner Tobin Heath said, âW7F is creating a future where women footballers have greater opportunities, financial security, and a bigger platform to connect with fans.â
Meanwhile, womenâs football advocate Ian Wright âlovesâ the innovative nature of the tournament. He believes itâs another aspect of womenâs football that fans can enjoy and will only aid the gameâs growth.
Tickets are available to W7F and Brentford members from 10am on 13th April. The early access period ends when the general sale begins on 14th April at 10am. Supporters can buy tickets at worldsevens.com.
Fans can also sign up for early access on the site. Passes are available for individual days or as a three-day package to experience the tournament in its entirety. Further details on participating clubs and broadcast partners will be announced in the coming weeks.
