It was a brief stint with the New York Yankees, and it wasn't an effective one either.

On Tuesday night, the Yankees announced that they had optioned right-handed reliever Yerry De Los Santos back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He threw 44 pitches in last night's game against the Los Angeles Angels, allowing one run on three hits, including a solo home run to Yoan Moncada in the eighth inning.

De Los Santos was promoted on Monday after the Yankees optioned Jake Bird. It's now expected that the AL East club will call up an arm for Wednesday's matchup, the third game of a four-game series against the Angels.

"Depth in this 'pen is a major issue, though. I mean, they began their season with [Cade] Winquest, Paul Blackburn, and Ryan Yarbrough securing the final three spots of the bullpen," Rotman wrote Tuesday. "Winquest had no MLB experience, and both Blackburn and Yarbrough are long relievers that the Yankees should want no part of seeing in big spots."

Last year for the Yankees, De Los Santos posted a 3.28 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. The 28-year-old is likely to return to the Majors if an injury occurs or another reliever struggles.
