BYU will kick off the 2026-27 basketball season against Ohio State on November 2 in Salt Lake City. Both teams are facing significant roster changes after their previous seasons.

BYU will open the 2026-27 season versus Ohio State on Monday, November 2, according to scheduling czar Rocco Miller. The game will be in Salt Lake City at the Delta Center.
Ohio State is coming 21-13 season where they lost to TCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as an 8 seed. They finished 25 in KenPom and BYU finished 24. Like BYU, they must replace most of their top performers from this past season. BYU is replacing its entire starting 5 that played most of the season, and Ohio State must also replace its top players.
College basketball is moving from 31 to 32 games next season, meaning teams will have an additional non-conference game. Many of BYUâs best wins were in non-conference play, and I expect BYU to schedule several quality games once again. In addition to Ohio State, BYU will also play in the Maui Invitational with Arizona, Clemson, Colorado State, Ole Miss, Providence, VCU and Washington. BYU will play three of those teams.
BYU also will host an exhibition versus Nebraska in the Marriott Center, and a source tells me BYU will host Montana State Thursday, November 12 in the Marriott Center. A return game to Wisconsin in Milwaukee could also be a possibility.
