Former Georgia Bulldogs basketball guard De'Shayne Montgomery has entered the transfer portal. Montgomery is looking for his fourth school in four seasons. Montgomery played for Georgia during the 2024-2025 college basketball season and helped the Bulldogs make the NCAA Tournament before Georgia lost to Gonzaga.
Montgomery spent the most recent season with the Dayton Flyers, where he averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 2.1 assists per game. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard was Dayton's second-leading scorer. He helped Dayton go 25-12 and advance to the NIT quarterfinals. He connected on 33.5% of his three-point attempts and made 49.0% of field goals.
Montgomery is a slashing guard that will have plenty of suitors in the portal. The Dayton standout was ranked as the No. 215 transfer in the country last offseason and figures to earn a similar ranking this year. He joins fellow Dayton guard Bryce Heard in the transfer portal.
Montgomery was overlooked as a high school recruit out of Somerset Academy Charter in Miami, Florida. He signed with the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers and made an instant impact as a freshman before transferring to Georgia.

Montgomery was ineligible due to academics during part of his lone year at Georgia. He appeared in 17 games and averaged 6.5 points per game in a more limited role at Georgia then he's had at his other two college stops.
Georgia and coach Mike White will be heavily utilizing the transfer portal this offseason. The Bulldogs have seven players in the transfer portal right now and no incoming recruits, so Georgia has a lot of roster spots to fill as the Bulldogs look to make a third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
