Praful Hinge made history by taking three wickets in his first over, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 57-run victory over Rajasthan Royals. SRH scored 216 runs, while RR was bowled out for 159, marking a strong comeback for SRH after two losses.
Praful Hinge made an impact on debut as the pacer delivered the most successful first over in IPL history to help Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs on Monday.
Hinge took three wickets in the first over, dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (golden duck), Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius. This was the first time a bowler picked up three wickets in the first over of an IPL innings.
SRH had earlier scored 216 for six, led by captain Ishan Kishanâs 91 off 44 balls. They then bowled out Rajasthan Royals for 159 in 19 overs to return to winning ways after two losses.
Hinge finished with figures of 4 for 34 in his four overs. The 24-year-old was initially set to make his debut on April 11 against Punjab Kings but missed out due to last-minute changes in the team. When he got his chance, he made an immediate impact.
Sooryavanshi was beaten for pace and top-edged the ball, which was taken by wicketkeeper Salil Arora. Hinge then dismissed Jurel with a delivery outside off that took an inside edge and hit the stumps. Pretorius followed after failing to clear Nitish Reddy at deep backward square leg.
Another debutant, Sakib Hussain, also made an impact with figures of 4 for 24 in four overs. He struck in his first over, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal to leave Rajasthan at 4 for 2. The score soon became 5 for 9 when Riyan Parag was caught at slip off Hinge.
The match was largely decided at that stage, though Donovan Ferreira (69 off 44) and Ravindra Jadeja (45 off 32) added 118 runs to reduce the margin. Hussain later dismissed Ferreira, Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi.
Hinge and Hussain combined for 8 wickets for 58 runs in eight overs.
Hinge came through age-group cricket in Vidarbha and trained under Varun Aaron and Senthilnathan at the MRF Pace Foundation. The foundationâs director of cricket Glenn McGrath also arranged a training stint in Australia for him.
Earlier, Kishan led the batting effort before late contributions from Reddy and Arora helped SRH cross 210. Kishan hit eight fours and six sixes and added 88 runs with Heinrich Klaasen (40 off 26).
Towards the end, Reddy scored 28 off 13 balls and Arora remained unbeaten on 24 off 13 balls to take SRH past 210.
Meanwhile, the focus now shifts to today's match, where Chennai Super Kings (CSK) host out-of-form KKR in Chennai. CSK have one win in four matches, while KKR are yet to taste victory with three defeats and one no-result in the season so far.
