For the fifth time this season, a Longhorns player has earned SEC honors. On Monday, outfielder Anthony Pack Jr. became the latest player to join the list following a scorching hot week at the plate. The California native was an on-base machine last week against South Carolina and played a key role in the Longhorns' win over the Gamecocks on Saturday.
Against the Longhorns SEC rivals, Pack reached base safely in 10 of his 13 plate appearances. During that stretch, he had three multi-hit performances. He also came through in the clutch on Saturday with a game-winning two-run double in the series-securing 4-1 win. While Pack provided the offense with a spark, he also etched his name into the record books.
The Milikan High Alum became the third true freshman in program history to have eight hits in a three-game series. He joined a group that includes Eric Kennedy and Jared Thomas. If Pack can stay hot at the plate, then he could continue to join former Longhorn legends.
Through 31 games, Pack has been one of the team's best bats. He currently owns a .324 average and has driven in 28 runs. In an SEC conference full of stars, Pack has set himself apart with his ability to make hard contact and create chaos on the basepaths. So far this season, he has stolen 11 bases and only been caught once.
With the 2025 campaign far from over, Texas will be looking for Pack to continue his recent success. Last week, he showed just how good he can be, with a .563 average and a 1.299 OPS. That is partly why it has been hard for Longhorns manager Jim Schlossnagle to keep Pack out of the lineup.
As the postseason draws closer, Pack will be a name to keep an eye on. He is a key piece for this Longhorns team that is looking to bring a national title to Austin.
