As world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler competes for his third green jacket the Masters, on his bag is his longtime caddie, Ted Scott.
The duo started working together in November 2021. “Basically, a friend of mine approached me and said, ‘You’re about to receive a phone call from a really good player,’” Scott said in Full Swing season 3. “This guy is really good. Like really good.’ I had never really met Scottie other than that we played with him in the New Orleans tournament and I saw that he was kind of fiesty, you know? That was one of the questions that I asked him when he called me.”
He continued, “I said, ‘I don’t know if I want to work for you because of your attitude.’ When I posed that question to him, he said, ‘That’s a fair question and I’m willing to work on it.’ All I need is a little bit of hope and I’m willing to get behind anybody. So I decided to take the job and here we are.”

Here’s what to know about Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott:
Scott grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana. He still lives in Lafayette with his wife, Melanie, and their two children.
On his social media, he posts a weekly “Sunday Sermon,” a minute-long messages.
He worked for, chronologically: Grant Waite (2000-2003), Paul Azinger (2003-2005), Olin Browne (2005), and Bubba Watson (2006-2021).
“He’s such a good and genuine guy, we just got on really well,” said Waite. “You would think with that start, I wouldn’t hire him to caddie for me. But Ted gets along with everybody. His personality is such that it’s hard not to like him with that sense of humor. And he works hard. There’s no pretension about him.”

He planned to retire before deciding to work with Scheffler. “I had my kids and my wife pray about it,” Scott said. “They took a week and came back and said ‘Dad, we think you ought to do it.’”
The partnership has been hugely successful. “I can’t say enough about him,” Scheffler said of his caddie. “You know, the qualities you look for in a person, Ted embodies pretty much all of them. He’s humble. He’s hard-working. He’s honest. He’s a good time to be around. He’s an amazing guy. To be able to have him on the bag is so special.”
